Mr. Curlett’s legal journey began at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, where he played a pivotal role in the prosecution of the Bosnian Serb Army for the Srebrenica genocide, leading to the conviction of General Radislav Krstic. Upon returning to the U.S., he served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, handling a wide array of criminal cases and investigating complex financial crimes. This experience laid the foundation for his expertise in criminal law and regulatory enforcement.

After entering private practice in 2006, Mr. Curlett joined a leading AmLaw firm  where he  advanced to partner and vice-chair of the white-collar and government enforcement practice group. He represented major financial institutions and individuals in complex and high-profile cases, including post-9/11 litigation and SEC investigations following the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

In 2011, Mr. Curlett co-founded the white-collar litigation boutique Levin & Curlett, gaining national recognition for his work in post conviction civil rights litigation. Later, in 2019, he joined a regional firm, continuing to lead criminal defense matters and investigations  before founding Curlett LLC in 2022. The firm provides specialized legal services, including representing clients in corporate governance disputes, complex litigation, and regulatory investigations. Mr. Curlett also expanded his role as General Counsel to a financial publishing firm, later serving as Chief Operating Officer of MarketWise, Inc., a NASDAQ-listed company.

Committed to the principles of justice and the rule of law, Mr. Curlett has actively contributed to the legal community, serving on the Criminal Justice Act panel for the District of Maryland and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He is a past chair of the criminal law section of the Federal Bar Association and was named a Fellow of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association in 2017.
