Curlett LLC was founded in 2022 with a singular purpose: to provide general counsel, expert advice, and legal services to discerning private clients.
Charles Curlett has been recognized as a leading White-Collar litigator by Benchmark Litigation, U.S. News – Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers since 2014. After beginning his legal career as a law clerk in the Prosecutor’s Office of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Mr. Curlett became a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. His years in private practice have included partnerships in national, regional and boutique law firms. A career litigator and trial lawyer, Mr. Curlett’s work has run the gamut from cases of national and historical significance to representing clients in federal racketeering trials.
Charles Curlett brings over 25 years of legal experience to bear in solving his clients’ most pressing issues. The firm accepts only a limited number of clients at any one time. The firm’s approach allows Mr. Curlett to become immersed in his clients’ business affairs. Mr. Curlett serves as outside general counsel, becoming a partner to his clients, understanding their businesses on a granular level, and working to ensure their success.
As an effective general counsel, Mr. Curlett clearly defines the work he may personally undertake based on his own background and experience and, for issues farther afield, Mr. Curlett marshals the necessary resources to solve any legal or business problem. Where additional resources are required, Mr. Curlett regularly engages other counsel and professionals while retaining a supervisory role in the management of cases. Mr. Curlett has worked frequently with leading law firms in the United States and Europe and is adept at leveraging his broad international network to achieve his clients’ objectives.
Mr. Curlett is an avid skier, golfer, and racket sport enthusiast. He speaks fluent French having spent several years living as a student and young professional in France and working for the United Nations in the Netherlands. He has travelled throughout 29 countries (and counting) in Europe, North America, South America, Africa and the Caribbean. Along the way, he has skied the Rockies, Sierra Nevada, Green Mountains, Alps, and Andes. In the spring, you can find him most weekends watching little league baseball.
